Darth Vader is Bad | How Fascists and Christian Nationalists intentionally misuse Star Wars

Star Wars made the news this past week as both Elon Musk and Christian Nationalist pastor Joel Webbon used the franchise to publicly illustrate their ideological beliefs. Musk posted a family photo of Anakin Skywalker, Padme, and the twins, suggesting that Star Wars stole this possible storyline from us. Joel Webbon called Star Wars liberal boomer slop in a viral podcast clip and suggested that "Star Wars was gay" and Darth Vader was the actual good guy. While the surface-level reaction was a reading of both incidents as another case of conservatives not understanding pop culture and art, there is actually much more to discuss. Ken Napzok and Joseph Scrimshaw discuss all this more on the 928th episode of ForceCenter.
