Red Dragons and Air Force Roulettes Flyover 2026

Captured vision from this week's practice and flyover for the NFL game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams that took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Aviation Spotters Online was given the opportunity to attend a media call at Royal Australian Air Force Base Point Cook yesterday, in the lead up to the practice formation flight over the city and surrounds, and to chat with the Air Force Roulettes and crewman from U.S. Marine Corps VMM 268 Red Dragons. This formation flight is a first for Australia, and indeed the world to have these aircraft types together, and the complexities of operating the MV-22B Osprey alongside the smaller Pilatus PC-21 in close formation, which crew from both militaries made note of when chatting with them, and how it was a sense of pride to be involved with, and how impressive it looks from the air and the ground.
