Today I'm talking about a book that focuses on two black women and their experience with racial passing. Larsen writes about Irene as she is reunited with Clare. Irene learns about Clare's marriage to a white man who doesn't know that she's black. Irene experience more frustration and anxiety as Clare becomes a bigger part of her life. I like how Larsen explores race here along with the notions of race science and eugenics. Larsen's psychological storytelling is particularly powerful. Check it out!
