Meet Maxensia Takirambule Nakibuuka, a woman whose story reads like a series of impossible tests, and whose answer to every one of them has been to keep serving her community. She learned to live with HIV/AIDS in an era when a diagnosis was a death sentence. She faced isolation and stigma most of us will never understand. She buried her brother and her husband to the same disease. She became a widow at just 32 years old. Then in 2017, she became disabled and paralyzed, confined to a wheelchair and still, she did not stop. Today, Maxensia leads the Lungujja Community Health Caring Organisation (LUCOHECO), turning her personal loss into a lifeline for others living with HIV/AIDS and disability. Her work sits at the vital intersection of HIV advocacy and disability inclusion, a space too often overlooked.
