People claimed to believe in God, yet gradually placed their trust not in Him, but in visible symbols and religious forms. But this is not merely the story of ancient Israel. This song asks whether our faith today has also become attached to names, traditions, dates, buildings, numbers, success, and spiritual experiences—while losing sight of the God to whom they were meant to point. Like those who stare at the finger pointing to the moon, yet never see the moon itself.
