Dora is 32, a chef from Jerusalem and a mom of four. When she looks at a photo of herself as a little girl, she sees all the dreams and hopes she had for her life. She met her husband while working at a pastry shop and studying for her degree. Six years after their wedding, when they already had two children, he started to feel pain and weakness. Little by little, he could barely get out of bed. Nine months ago, he passed away. Everything fell on Dora: earning a living, the children, the home. The situation kept getting worse, until one day there was no food in the house. When her husband needed a medical procedure, she was told she could wait for an appointment or go private. She had 2,500 shekels. Pay for the treatment, or keep the money for food? "It's an impossible decision." One day, sitting on the floor, she understood she couldn't hold on alone anymore. Help came step by step: a food package, something for the holidays, and a circle of support that showed her she wasn't alone. Today Dora works hard to make up for those years and pay off her debts. It's still not easy. "People imagine that someone in crisis looks broken. But no, I am broken inside. You just don't see it." Hardship isn't somewhere far away. It's right here among us.
