https://polyglotdreams.com/ THERE YOU CAN FIND 📖 A Life in 30 Languages — In my memoir, I share my adventures spanning over 50 years of learning and using languages to deeply experience different cultures and worldviews. I also share insights and practical tips from a lifetime dedicated to language learning. 🌍 The book is available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese (both Traditional and Simplified), Dutch, Russian, and more. 🎧 There are also DUAL-LANGUAGE editions and learning sets with audio, perfect for improving your listening and reading skills in your target languages. The word “Aryan” is now strongly associated with Nazi Germany, racial purity, and Hitler’s supposed master race. But the term did not originate in Germany—or even in Europe. Its history begins in ancient India and Iran, where Sanskrit ārya, Avestan airya, and Old Persian ariya served as cultural and linguistic self-designations. In this video, I trace the word from the ancient Indo-Iranian world through nineteenth-century European linguistics—and explain how racial theorists and the Nazis transformed it into a destructive biological myth. We will explore: The ancient meaning of ārya and ariya Indo-Iranian migrations into India and Iran The relationship between Sanskrit and Avestan How “Aryan” became confused with “Indo-European” How a linguistic category was converted into a supposed race How Nazi Germany weaponized this fabricated identity Languages are not genes—and the word “Aryan” never belonged to the Nazis.
