BAM! Meet your Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI)

Starting in 2028, the Maryland Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) system will ensure workers are able to take time away from work to care for themselves or a family member while still receiving job protection and earning up to $1000 a week for up to 12 weeks. The FAMLI Team within the Maryland Department of Labor is working to build the FAMLI system ahead of the contributions start date on January 1, 2027 and when benefits become available by January 3, 2028. Now is the time to educate yourself so you and your business can begin preparing and planning for the impact this mandated program will have on your business or nonprofit.
