He worked in the aluminum industry during World War II, went underground into the mines of the Pacific Northwest, became a diamond driller, helped build Box Canyon Dam on Washington’s Pend Oreille River, and stayed to help operate the power plant. But the measure of his life wasn't simply what he built. It was the people he served. Bob was a husband and father, baseball coach, Scout leader, church deacon and a trusted voice in the tiny community of Ione, Washington. And when young Boy Scouts were swept into dangerous water at Box Canyon Dam, Bob ran toward them — risking his own life to bring them home. His name is Robert Houston Davis.
