getoct presents: The Schirmer test provokes tears, thus measures the rate of tear production using a a paper filter to measure the quantity per time. There are variants of the test. A tiny strip of paper is placed inside the lower eyelid (temporal third of the inferior fornix into the conjunctival sac), no prior instillation of products (dyes or local anesthetics). Avoid strictlty any no contact with the cornea. The test is conducted on both sides for comparing. It serves only to guide and is solely used insufficient for the diagnosis of dry eye. The eyes are closed for 5 minutes. More than 10 mm of moisture on the filter paper in 5 minutes is normal. Join us at www.getoct.com.
