ACR | 0.6 | Rally Events - Alsace - Steigenbach - Fiat 124 Abarth - SS Race Test I | TV | 4K

Continuing my push to collect all Gold medals in Assetto Corsa Rally v0.6 Rally Events, this time with the Fiat 124 Abarth Rally on Steigenbach in Alsace for the Single Stage Race Test I challenge. The Gold itself was not difficult to achieve. The real challenge was simply keeping this car under control. 🇮🇹 Fiat 124 Abarth - Easy Gold, Difficult Car The required time for Gold was not particularly demanding, but the Fiat 124 Abarth is one of those cars that requires constant attention. It is not difficult because of the stopwatch. It is difficult because of the amount of nursing, concentration and correction needed throughout the stage. The suspension is extremely soft, and the car almost feels like it is floating over the road. Even on a straight section, a very small bump can upset the chassis enough to make the car start moving away from the line without any steering input. That makes it very hard to relax. 🛞 Soft Suspension and Constant Movement The biggest characteristic of the 124 Abarth is how much the body moves. The suspension absorbs a lot, but that also means the car never feels completely settled. On faster sections, even tiny surface changes can shift the balance enough to make the car wander across the road. You need to keep making small corrections and anticipate what the chassis is going to do next. It feels much more like managing the car than simply driving it. 🔥 Nervous on Throttle The rear can also become nervous very quickly under acceleration. Get on the throttle too aggressively and the car reacts immediately. That makes power application especially important when exiting slower corners, because one careless input can suddenly turn a clean exit into a correction or slide. Smooth throttle control is essential. 🛑 Brakes That Lock Very Easily The brakes are another challenge. They can lock almost immediately if too much pressure is applied, so braking needs to be very controlled and progressive. That makes the Fiat demanding at both ends of the corner: Careful on the brakes going in. Careful on the throttle coming out. And constantly managing the soft suspension in between. 🥇 Gold Secured Despite all of that, I managed to take Gold comfortably. The challenge time itself was never the biggest problem. The difficult part was keeping the Fiat under control long enough to complete a clean enough run. At the moment, this car and the Alpine A110 are probably the two cars I find the hardest to truly master in ACR. The Fiat 124 Abarth is not hard because the target time is extreme. It is hard because the car demands attention every second. The soft suspension makes it float over the road, small bumps can move it off line, the rear becomes nervous under throttle and the brakes lock very easily. You are constantly managing something. For me, this and the Alpine A110 are currently the two most difficult cars in ACR to properly master. Fiat 124 Abarth. Steigenbach. Alsace. Gold secured. Control still being learned.
