This video shows how to create engineering stress strain curves in Excel using data from a completed tensile test. This video also shows how to find the 0.2% offset line, Young's Modulus (YM), yield, ultimate & fracture stress.
If you need help getting started, you can find the completed Excel workbook from this video here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/cdocug...
Engineering vs. True stress/strain:
Engineering stress and strain use the original dimensions of a material, while true stress and strain account for the changing dimensions during deformation. Engineering stress is calculated by dividing the applied force by the initial cross-sectional area, and engineering strain is the change in length divided by the original length. True stress uses the instantaneous cross-sectional area, and true strain uses the natural logarithm of the instantaneous length over the original length.
