🇱🇧 A DAY IN ACHRAFIEH, BEIRUT WITH JOE KODEIH | THE COMPLETE EXPERIENCE Welcome to Achrafieh, one of Beirut’s oldest, most beautiful, and most fascinating neighborhoods! Today, I’m spending an entire day with my friend Joe Kodeih, Lebanese actor, comedian, and a true Achrafieh local, exploring the streets, restaurants, history, architecture, and unforgettable stories that make this part of Beirut so special. From Sassine Square to Monot Street, Sodeco, and Sursock, we discover the authentic Achrafieh through the eyes of someone who grew up here. This is more than a Lebanese food tour. It’s a journey through the memories, traditions, and people who have shaped Beirut’s identity. 📍 EXPLORING OLD ACHRAFIEH – SASSINE SQUARE AND THE SURROUNDING STREETS Our journey begins at Sassine Square, one of Achrafieh’s most recognizable landmarks. Joe takes us through the streets of his childhood, sharing memories of growing up in Beirut, the neighborhood’s transformation, and the people who made Achrafieh what it is today. We explore traditional buildings, old houses, narrow streets, and historic corners that preserve the character of Beirut. Along the way, we discuss the city’s architectural heritage, the changes brought by modern development, and the importance of protecting Lebanon’s historic neighborhoods. 🥙 TRADITIONAL LEBANESE FOOD – MANAKISH AND LOCAL FAVORITES No exploration of Achrafieh would be complete without discovering its food! We stop at traditional bakeries and neighborhood establishments to enjoy authentic Lebanese flavors. From freshly baked manakish to traditional sandwiches, we explore the foods that generations of Beirut residents grew up eating. Every stop brings another memory, another conversation, and another reason to appreciate Lebanon’s extraordinary culinary heritage. 📍 MONOT STREET AND SODECO – MEMORIES OF OLD BEIRUT We continue our walk through Monot Street, once one of Beirut’s most celebrated nightlife destinations. Joe shares stories about the legendary cafés, restaurants, and nightlife establishments that defined an entire era. From Monot to Sodeco, we rediscover familiar streets and discuss how Beirut has changed over the decades. 🍰 PATE A CHOUX – TRADITIONAL CAKES AND PASTRIES Our food discoveries continue at Makram, a beloved name associated with traditional cakes, pastries, and sweet memories. We discover delicious desserts and talk about the importance of maintaining craftsmanship and consistency in Lebanon’s food industry. 🥪 HAJJ NASR – A LEGENDARY BEIRUT SANDWICH DESTINATION One of our most exciting stops is Hajj Nasr, a famous Lebanese sandwich establishment that has been part of Beirut’s food culture for generations. We explore the sandwiches, the history, and the people behind this much-loved concept. Fresh bread, generous fillings, traditional flavors, and a loyal community of customers make Hajj Nasr an essential part of Achrafieh’s food story. 🍲 LE CHEF – THE LEGENDARY RESTAURANT OF ACHRAFIEH We also visit Le Chef, one of Beirut’s most iconic traditional Lebanese restaurants. Known for its homemade Lebanese dishes, welcoming atmosphere, and decades of history, Le Chef represents the kind of authentic neighborhood restaurant that makes Beirut extraordinary. From traditional stews to classic Lebanese recipes, we discover the flavors that have made this restaurant a favorite for generations. Le Chef is also internationally known for its connection to Anthony Bourdain, who visited Lebanon in 2006. 🏛️ SURSOCK, HISTORIC STAIRWAYS AND THE BEAUTY OF BEIRUT Our journey continues through Achrafieh’s beautiful historic streets and stairways. We discover the architectural character of the Sursock neighborhood, its historic villas, and the heritage that makes this part of Beirut unique. These streets remind us why preserving our cultural and architectural identity is so important. ❤️ A DAY OF FOOD, HISTORY, LAUGHTER AND MEMORIES What makes this episode special isn’t simply the restaurants we visit or the streets we discover. It’s the people, the conversations, and the memories. Joe Kodeih brings his humor, personal experiences, and deep connection to Achrafieh, allowing us to discover the neighborhood from a different perspective. For Lebanese people living abroad, this episode is an invitation to reconnect with Beirut. For visitors discovering Lebanon, it’s an introduction to one of the city’s most fascinating neighborhoods. And for everyone who loves Lebanon, it’s a reminder of the beauty, resilience, and extraordinary spirit of our country. Thank you, Joe, for an unforgettable day exploring Achrafieh! #Achrafieh #Beirut #JoeKodeih #AnthonyRahayel #NoGarlicNoOnions #LebaneseFood #BeirutFoodTour #Lebanon #DiscoverLebanon #OldBeirut #LebaneseHeritage #HajjNasr #LeChef #الأشرفية #بيروت
