Welcome to Halebidu, Karnataka — home to the magnificent Hoysaleshwara Temple, one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture. In this vlog, we explore this incredible 12th-century temple and take a closer look at the details that make it so special — from the massive Nandi and beautifully decorated Dvarapalas to the star-shaped temple design, intricately carved pillars, layers of stone sculptures, Hindu deities, mythology, dancers, animals and tiny carvings with unbelievable precision. One of the things that amazed us the most was seeing tiny openings carved completely through some of the sculptures — detailed stonework that makes you wonder how craftsmen achieved such precision centuries ago without modern machinery. We also came across fascinating depictions from Hindu mythology, including the Samudra Manthan, and discovered that many of the sculptures have stories behind them. If you're planning to visit Halebidu, I would definitely recommend keeping enough time to explore the carvings properly and, if possible, taking a knowledgeable local guide to understand the stories behind them. After the temple visit, we were hungry and stopped at Itihakala Restaurant for a traditional pure vegetarian buffet. The food, village-style atmosphere and variety of dishes made it a perfect way to end the trip. 📍 Hoysaleshwara Temple, Halebidu, Hassan, Karnataka Google maps link for Lunch ITIHAKALA RESTAURANT (Pure Veg) HALEBIDU : https://maps.app.goo.gl/BatZyxDtdhD7Q...
