Finger Weeders on Squash

In-row cultivation to control weeds is a big challenge. Here I demonstrate the use of finger weeders in the winter squash rows. The Corvallis Mini Electric Tractor (COMET) did a nice job with sufficient power and control. The soil may be a bit dryer on the surface than is ideal for this tool. Slightly softer conditions may have uprooted more weeds, but I am hesitant to irrigate because the squash has plenty of moisture about 2 inches below the surface.
