Main Scriptures: Matthew 16:13-20 On Sunday, August 23rd we received the I WANT TO SEE: WHO DO PEOPLE SAY I AM from Pastor Q Wilson, taught from Matthew 16:13-20. The fourth instalment of this series, centred around the gift of spiritual sight and achieving oneness with God. This was a message of discernment and wisdom. A word to completely re-route our lives specifically those who are in the process of following Christ but have lost sight of which way is up and which way is down. Although we identify as believers of Christ there are many of us that really have no clue who we are, what our purpose and our calling is, and how to find those answers. Based upon this message the reason we’re not able to figure out these monumental things in our lives is because we search first the natural instead of the spiritual. When Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” He already knew who he was, but he asked to see if the people closest to him understood who and what he was. As believers, as children of God often times we will make the monumental mistake of asking the people around us to tell us about ourselves, before we go to our Creator. People can, and will say all sorts of things about us, but in truth, none of that matters. What matters is what the Word of God says about our lives, and what the Lord has told us personally within the confines of our relationships with him. The revelation and the blessing of knowing who Christ is gave Simon Peter the opportunity to know what he had been called to be. As Christ told Simon Peter his true name he also revealed the blessings that he has in store for him. Don’t live life another day attached to what you’ve not been called to be. Watch it.
