What happens when we take pain neuroscience education into some of the more complex areas of clinical practice?
In this episode of Pain Science in the Trenches, I’m joined by Truly Moore, PT, DPT, as we explore the role of pain neuroscience education with people experiencing pelvic pain and Lyme disease.
Truly shares her journey from decades of clinical practice to completing a Pain Science Fellowship with Evidence in Motion, and how that experience changed the way she thinks about pain, clinical reasoning, and working with patients whose symptoms don’t always fit neatly into a box.
In our conversation, we talk about:
• What originally drew Truly to pelvic health and complex pain
• How the Pain Science Fellowship changed her clinical reasoning
• Applying PNE with the pelvic pain population and navigating conversations around fear, shame, and uncertainty
• How Truly approaches patients with Lyme disease through a pain science lens
• The common threads between pelvic pain and Lyme disease
• A patient-centered look at what it means to help someone make sense of their symptoms
• How developing clinical confidence ultimately helped Truly take the leap into opening her own practice
This conversation is a reminder that pain science isn't just something we teach. It's a way of thinking that can shape how we listen, communicate, and approach patients with complex pain.
