What does the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway actually look like on the ground in Akwa Ibom? In this episode of Heritage Media Mega Projects, I travel from Calabar through Odukpani, across the Calabar–Itu Bridge, through Uyo, and finally to the Uruan axis of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway. The journey comes first. The full road reveal comes later. At around the 5-minute mark, we arrive at the Uruan axis and take a closer look at the concrete carriageway, sections of the median, streetlights, reinforcement steel, construction equipment, and the progress visible on the ground. During my visit, workers were still present around the site, but the rains had clearly affected construction activity. We also take a closer look at the reinforcement work and explain why these seemingly simple steel structures are important to the strength and durability of the road. No press release. No second-hand update. No press release. No second-hand update. This is what I found on the ground. Watch to the end and see what the Uruan axis looks like for yourself. 📍 Uruan, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria Heritage Media — Africa has a story.
