THE RECIPE (makes 1 quart) 4–5 garlic cloves, crushed and rested 10 minutes 1 quart room-temperature water (not boiling) Steep overnight, then strain Add 1 teaspoon pure liquid castile soap Store in the fridge, use within a week WORKS WELL ON: aphids, whiteflies, spider mites, young thrips, mealybugs (with a rubbing alcohol swab first) WON'T STOP: caterpillars (hand-pick or use Bt) Always test on a few leaves and wait 48 hours before spraying the whole plant.
