Right, European football is BACK at the Stadium of Light and I was there for it. First continental game since the 70s and we go and win it 1-0 against AZ Alkmaar.
Le Fee steps up and smashes the penalty in — first European goal of his career, and honestly the whole ground just went up. Fofana got his first start for us too, bit of experience from his Lyon days in this competition, and Hume was back in after getting a breather at the weekend.
We were the better side for most of it if I'm honest — battered them from set pieces and Xhaka nearly got on the end of one, Isidor too — just couldn't find a second. Didn't matter in the end though, three points is three points and we're off the mark in Europe.
Come and watch the walk in, the atmosphere before kick off, and that moment the penalty hit the net. Let us know what you made of the performance in the comments.
Like if you're buzzing to have European nights back, and sub if you want every matchday with me this season
