Christa Pike 911 calls released: "What's your code?" "I don't have a code." Newly released recordings show how emergency help was delayed after Tennessee's failed execution, from the first 911 call at 8:40 p.m. to the ambulance leaving the prison at 9:28 p.m.
After the state tried and failed to execute Christa Pike with two doses of pentobarbital, someone at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville called 911 for an ambulance. Dispatchers required a security code, the caller didn't have one, and the call was treated as a possible false alarm. This video follows the 911 calls, dispatch audio, radio traffic, and what Christa Pike's lawyers say the state was warned about.
