Leaving Mitzpe Ramon behind, Route 40 begins its winding descent into Makhtesh Ramon — the Ramon Crater. Despite its name, this is not a volcanic or meteorite crater, but a vast natural erosion formation carved into the desert landscape over millions of years. Stretching for around 40 km, it is the largest makhtesh of its kind in the world. Mountains, endless desert, blue sky, winding roads and that incredible feeling of descending into another world. This is Israel through the windshield — life as it is. No filters, no staging, no attempt to make the journey look different from what it really was. 🎥 Filmed in 4K. The desert sun was extremely strong during parts of the descent and was shining directly into the camera, so you may notice a few moments where the image quality and exposure aren't perfect.
