Tuesday night No-Gi session! Coach gave us the blueprint for side control escapes. Rolled with Saif afterward and he caught me with a slick backstep pass right into mount—hats off to him for a sweet move!

Side Control Reversal Against a Sprawling Opponent
Note: These notes are based roughly on memory from class and serve as a general reference for training details.
Recognize the Sprawl: From bottom side control, identify when your opponent drops their hips heavy and sprawls their legs far back to flatten you out and deny underhooks or hip escapes.
Knee Trap Grip: Reach down with your bottom or near-side hand and firmly trap/cupping the back of their near knee or leg, blocking them from stepping or re-adjusting their base.
Synchronized Bump: Explosively bridge and bump your hips directly into their hip/side at the exact same moment you trap their knee, driving their weight forward and off-balance over their posted upper body.
Leg-Hop / Reversal Drive:
As their hips elevate from the bump, drive off your feet and swing/jump your legs over their trapped base.
Turn your hips into them to roll over their shoulder/hip line.
Top Position Takeover: Follow their rotation all the way through to pop up on top, landing in top side control or mounted position to complete the reversal.
