What share of adults use tobacco in each country? Timor-Leste is highest at 48.8%, followed by Lebanon and Myanmar, while Nigeria and Ghana are below 4%. Worldwide about one adult in five uses tobacco. 📊 Data: Source: WHO global tobacco trends report 2025 (6th ed.), modelled, age-standardised, via World Bank WDI SH.PRV.SMOK (CC BY 4.0). Any tobacco, excluding e-cigarettes. The figures are modelled estimates for adults aged 15+, age-standardised, and count any tobacco (cigarettes, hookah, smokeless and heated tobacco) but not e-cigarettes. National surveys usually count only cigarettes among adults 18+, so they show lower numbers and should not be compared with this ranking. The ranking is for comparing countries, not for counting smokers. 💬 Is your country higher or lower than you expected?
