Lufthansa’s Boeing 747-8 UPSTAIRS Business Class | Why She’s Still ICONIC In 2025! Today, I’m flying on one of the most iconic jets in the sky—Lufthansa’s Newest Queen Of The Skies The Boeing 747-8 In this video, I’ll be reviewing their Business Class cabin upstairs on this transatlantic flight taking 8 Hours 20 Minutes to travel the 6,207 km (3,857 mi) from Frankfurt 🇩🇪 to Newark, New Jersey—just outside New York City 🇺🇸 Lufthansa is one of the few airlines still operating the Queen of the Skies, and one of only three to ever fly the passenger version of the 747-8i (Intercontinental). The 747-8 is the latest and final generation of the legendary Boeing 747 program, marking the end of an iconic aircraft. While not as popular with passenger airlines as previous 747 generations, the 747-8 has been very successful in the freighter market. In fact, the last ever Boeing 747 is a 747-8F owned by American cargo airline Atlas Air, produced in 2023. (Also, at 11:40 it says “subtitle” as a joke because I didn’t remember what it was 🤣) There are 8 First Class Seats (P 83" W 30.5" L 81" L denotes "Length lie-flat bed") in a 1-1 configuration right in the nose of the 747-8 80 Business Class seats (P 64" W 20" L 78" in a 2-2-2 configuration [2-2 Upstairs no middle row same dimensions] 32 Premium Economy seats (P 38" W 19" R 8") R denotes "recline" in a 2-4-2 config and 244 Economy seats (P 31" W 17.3" R 6") in a 3-4-3 config on this Boeing 747-8 Source: aeroLOPA LH 748 My tickets for today’s 747 flights cost $4,900 USD (€4,526 EUR) for the FRA–EWR segment, booked as a roundtrip originating IAD–FRA on the 747-400. It was an expensive indulgence, but I really wanted to fly upstairs on the 747-400 from Dulles to Frankfurt and return on the 747-8 via Newark — a once-in-a-lifetime experience for my first 747 flights!
