Cold air, fresh mountain snow, and unexpected wildlife! What started as a late morning plan to explore Manashtash Ridge turned into an epic cold-weather scouting ride across the Cascades.
Hitting Highway 18 and I-90 East, I stopped off at Truck Town to top off the tank before pushing over Snoqualmie Pass. "Old Man Winter" was definitely out in full force—you could feel that crisp, core-chilling bite early in the ride.
After rolling into the historic town of Cle Elum, I took the back roads through W Taneum road and climbed up into the mountains. That’s where I hit the very first snowfall of the season!
With daylight burning fast and temperature drops on the horizon, I scrapped the original link-up to HWY 410, swung by Riders Camp, and navigated the back dirt routes into Ellensburg. Along the way, I spotted dozens of wild turkeys scattered across the fields (and even caught one hanging out right off I-90!).
To wrap up the day, I took a quick detour through Roslyn, bringing back a lot of memories from my teenage years riding the old coal hill ORV areas, before heading back west to call it a day.
