In this video we take a look and teardown the GEC Z5681, part of the Z5680 series of street light lanterns, also sold as the Clearside Z5680. This lantern dates to between 1972 and 1978, making it now around fifty years old! We also take a look at the components included with its gear such as the ballast for the 80W mercury lamp and the photocell (Royce Thompson P42 and a Zodion SS55 base). This very lantern is the thing that amplified my interest in street lighting at a young age, so to have it in the collection after all these years was brilliant! 0:00 - Introduction 1:14 - History of the Z5680 5:02 - Overview 6:24 - Canopy 7:04 - Photocell 8:25 - Internal Construction 10:11 - Ballast 10:43 - Reassembly 11:27 - Warm up 12:38 - Outro and Poll #GEC #streetlights #lighting #vintage #lamps #retro Sites I used for information: https://www.lighting-gallery.net/gall... - BenSOX135 https://www.streetlightonline.co.uk/ - Mike Barford https://www.simoncornwell.com/lightin...
