Rain on a Tin Barn Roof for Sleeping | 3 Hours, Sheep Resting in the Hay

3 hours in an old sheep barn on a rainy night. Rain drums on the tin roof, water drips from the eave outside the open door, and the sheep sleep in the straw by lantern light. Now and then one of them shifts in its sleep, and once in a while a far-off bleat comes from the hillside. For sleeping, studying or switching off. No music, no talking. The barn stands on a hillside above a fjord near 68° north. The top half of the door is open to the night: wet grass, a fence, and dark mountains across the water with a few lights along the shore. An old storm lantern hangs from the beam, the hay rack is full, and an old sheep bell hangs on a nail by the door. At around fifty minutes the rain is at its heaviest and the eave runs over. After an hour and twenty minutes it eases to a drizzle, then settles back into steady rain until morning.
