Four major themes highlighted in this homily are:
1. Everything belongs to God, and all earthly authority remains subject to his sovereignty.
2. Created in God’s image, every person possesses a dignity that hardship, illness, poverty, or rejection can never erase.
3. Bearing God’s image calls us to respect others, care for creation, and use his gifts responsibly.
4. Giving God what belongs to him means offering our whole lives, allowing faith to shape our decisions, relationships, and daily actions.
A few questions for further reflection
1. Do you recognize all you have as God’s gift, or do you sometimes live as though everything belongs entirely to you?
2. Do hardship, illness, or rejection make you question your worth? Are you able to still trust His imprint on your life in such situations?
3. How does recognizing God’s image in others shape the way you treat them, especially those you find difficult to love?
4. What part of your life are you still withholding from God, and what would it mean to surrender it to him?
A prayer you can make your own
Heavenly Father, thank you for creating me in your image and holding me in your love. When hardship makes me question my worth, remind me that I remain precious to you. Help me recognize your image in others and use your gifts generously. Shape my thoughts, choices, and relationships, so that my whole life may honor you. Amen.
