Today we are taking a quick lap down Winchester here at Snow Valley Bike Park in Running Springs, CA. Just down the road from Snow Summit Bike Park this is the little resort that could, and has a very different character to its big sister, and WE LOVE IT HERE! SNOW VALLEY BIKE PARK Snow Valley Bike Park, located at Snow Valley Mountain Resort (part of Big Bear Mountain Resort) in Running Springs, California, is one of Southern California’s go-to lift-served gravity destinations. Tucked inside the San Bernardino National Forest along Highway 18, Snow Valley offers riders a high-altitude alpine escape under two hours from Los Angeles and Orange County. Known for its laid-back vibe, fast-draining dirt, and progressive layout, the park provides an ideal mix of flow and natural mountain terrain without the heavy crowds of larger commercial bike parks. The Bike Park and Trail Options Descents are serviced by Chair 1, a high-speed six-pack chairlift that whisks riders and their bikes to the top of the mountain in minutes, offering uninterrupted top-to-bottom laps through dense pines and manzanita. Introductory Trails: The "Green" trails, such as Green Horn and Lower Green Horn, serve as the ideal introduction to gravity riding. Featuring wide machine-cut lines, mellow grades, and gentle sweeping berms, these runs allow beginners to build confidence with braking, balance, and cornering in a controlled, forgiving environment. Intermediate Trails: "Blue" trails form the rhythmic backbone of the park. Winchester is the mountain's marquee flow run, famous for its buffed singletrack, expansive berms, and playful rollers that let riders carry effortless momentum. Trails like Crazy Horse and Bandit step up the pace with tighter bermed switchbacks, table options, and mild rock chatter. Advanced and Expert Trails: Experienced riders looking for speed and steep lines can drop into technical black diamonds like Quick Draw and Gun Smoke, which cut down the fall line with steep chutes, natural rock drops, and loose, off-camber sections. For pro-level airtime, the Lower Pro Jumpline serves up table top jumps and unfortunately it isn't what it used to be, but it is still a great lap if you are in the park. Other Summer Activities at the Resort While lift-served downhill biking is the headline draw on weekends, Snow Valley and the surrounding San Bernardino mountain communities offer a complete outdoor recreation escape. Scenic Sky Chair Rides: Non-riders can take Chair 1 up to the peak for sweeping panoramic views of the San Bernardino Mountains and Slide Peak, with round-trip lift access ideal for sightseers and families. Mountaintop Hiking: From the top terminal of Chair 1, hikers can explore the Longhorn Trail, a scenic 3/4-mile alpine loop featuring shaded pine groves, unique granite rock formations, and valley outlooks. Rim Nordic Cross-Country Network: Located directly across Highway 18, the historic Rim Nordic Ski Area opens its doors in the summer, offering over 15 miles of dedicated cross-country mountain bike singletrack and race-tested trails. Big Bear Mountain Resort Sister Access: As part of the Big Bear Mountain Resort family, riders can easily pair a day at Snow Valley with the high-speed gravity lines at Snow Summit or summer lake activities down in Big Bear Lake. Base Area Dining & Retail: The Snow Valley base lodge features outdoor patio seating, trailside grill dining, cold local craft beers, and a full-service bike shop offering downhill rentals, safety gear demos, and tune-ups. #SnowValleyBikePark #SnowValleyMTB #SoCalMTB #DownhillMTB #BigBearMountainResort #LoamPass #Insta360MTB #MTBLife
