Perception Is Not Inside Your Head.

What is perception really? Most people believe perception is something happening inside the brain. They believe there is an objective external world outside of them, a body inside that world, and a private bubble of awareness somewhere behind the eyes. But what if that entire model is backwards? In this video, we explore perception, consciousness, non-duality, no-self, the mind-body problem, direct experience, and the illusion of subject and object. When you look directly, perception is not something happening inside your head. Your head is something appearing inside perception. The usual model says, “I am seeing the world.” But in direct experience, can you actually find the separate “I” who is seeing? Is there really a subject inside the body looking at objects outside the body? Or is there just seeing, hearing, sensing, thinking, and appearing — all happening as one seamless field of consciousness? This video points toward a radical possibility: perception is not a window onto reality. Perception is reality appearing. The “real world” is not hidden behind a veil of perceptions. The room, body, colors, sounds, thoughts, and even the feeling of being a separate self all arise inside awareness.
