Watch What Mom Does When Her Tiny Calf Refuses To Get Up

Under the baking midday sun near Marloth Park, a sleepy newborn elephant calf decided the warm sand was the perfect place for an afternoon nap. Realising the little one was too exhausted to rise on its own, the massive mother stepped in, deftly curling her hind leg under the calf's side to gently scoop it upward. With a little encouragement from an attentive juvenile nearby, the wobbly youngster found its footing and trotted off between mom's protective legs.
