What Were the Scariest Weapons Ancient Romans Invented?

The scariest Roman weapon was not the longest blade. It was iron issued by the hundred, built so a shield stopped working. This is ordinary Roman daily life under a kit, not a parade of emperors. We cover the javelin that stayed in a shield, the short sword made for a packed line, lead sling bullets and shield darts, the torsion bolt-thrower a town could hear before it saw, and the four-point nail left in the dust. We stay with the workshop, the wet rope store, and the rumor that reached a baker before the cart did. One Roman writer lists the darts on a shield. The list is not the scare. The scare is that the same kit came back next season. Would you stand in front of that bent iron? Tell us in the comments. Would you trust a road after that nail was scattered?
