In clean air, switch on the detector and confirm normal reading mode. 2. Enter calibration mode: keep the button pressed through the switch-off countdown until the CAL countdown appears. 3. The detector auto-zeros all sensors. 4. When APPLY GAS appears, connect the regulator and tubing to the gas input and open the gas. 5. Watch the readings rise and settle at the cylinder values. 6. When calibration completes, follow the on-screen GAS OFF countdown, then remove the tubing and close the regulator. 7. Note the date and result in your calibration log. ❓ FAQ Q: Which gas is used to calibrate the Max XT II? A: The standard 4-gas model uses 25 ppm H2S, 100 ppm CO, 50% LEL methane and 18% O2 (balance nitrogen). Always match the values on your cylinder label to the detector. Q: How often should a Max XT II be calibrated? A: Honeywell BW's commonly quoted interval is every 180 days, but follow your manual and site policy. Q: Bump test or calibration? A: A bump test is a quick function check with gas. ISEA guidance is to bump test or calibration-check before each day's use, and fully calibrate if the check fails. ⚠️ SAFETY NOTE For education only. Calibration should be done by trained personnel in a well-ventilated, gas-free area, following the manufacturer's manual and your site safety rules.
