Duerme Pueblo Mío - Stanford Talisman Spring Show 2017

This song is a blend of "Cancíon de Cuna" and "Cuando crezcas pueblo mío" by Luis Enrique Mejia Godoy. This artist was influential in Nicaragua's Sandinista Revolution (1961-1990) by reflecting the political climate through his own narrative in his music. By doing this, he fostered nationalism during a time of struggle, and educated the youth of Nicaragua about the past, present, and future of the country. These two songs in particular were composed for the youth. Godoy urges them to dream of a better Nicaragua, and follow that dream until it becomes a reality.
