📖 HER HOUSE IS THE WAY TO HELL (Proverbs 7) Proverbs 7 gives a very real warning concerning adultery, temptation, and the strange woman: “Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.” — Proverbs 7:27 KJV AN INTERESTING DETAIL — THE APPOINTED TIME In Proverbs 7:20, she says: “He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.” The Hebrew word translated “day appointed” is keseh — the same rare word found in Psalm 81:3: “Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.” Could Proverbs 7:20 be pointing to an appointed feast time? A WARNING BEYOND THE STRANGE WOMAN While Proverbs 7 gives a literal warning concerning adultery, Scripture also uses adultery to describe unfaithfulness to God. Israel is described as a wife who treacherously departed from her husband (Jeremiah 3:20). James warns: “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God?” — James 4:4 KJV And in Revelation, “Jezebel” seduces the servants of Christ to commit fornication and idolatry (Revelation 2:20), while those who follow her are described as those who “commit adultery with her” (Revelation 2:22). So the warning is greater than one woman.
