Firstly, there's a creepy old guy who has taken up residence at the top floor of the Keterburg Hotel who dresses up his granddaughter as a cat and makes her meow at things. But more importantly, Luke learned some interesting details about Jade's past from his sister, Governor Nephry. Luke learned about the reason Jade created Fomicry (that is, the technology behind replicas) and about Professor Nebilim. Nebilim was a Seventh Fonist (like Tear), and Jade foolishly tried to use the Seventh Fonon - with disastrous consequences. He accidentally struck the professor and set her house on fire. While she was still alive, Jade decided there was one thing he could do in order to save her: try and create a copy of her. But that's when things went wrong in a big way. Copying Professor Nebilim.. didn't work, to put it mildly. Something went wrong with the replica.. and the resultant creature was a monster of unimaginable horror. So.. uh.. no word on what happened to that monster, bee tee dubs. Nephry thinks that Jade went to military school to try and bring back the professor.. and is still wanting to bring back the professor. As Luke got back to the hotel, he was confronted by Jade - who said that the opposite was true: he no longer wanted to bring back the Professor. After all, a copy is just a copy - without memories of the original - and hence, a copy can't forgive him. Some pretty heavy stuff in the details. Details to which Luke and Mieu are now sworn to silence. The next day, the group are given the all clear to set sail again. The Tartarus has been inspected, and Nephry gives her clearance that we can depart as we wish. But there's something Tear would like to check out first.. there's more fun to be had at the resort isle. And after we check what else is available in the shops around Auldrant.. perhaps the group might plead Tear to head back for some more shifts at the restaurant before we set sail.
