Why Are Men Leaving the Church? | The Crisis Christianity Can’t Ignore

Where have all the men gone? Across parts of modern Christianity, pastors, writers and commentators are raising an uncomfortable question: why do some men—particularly younger men—feel disconnected from contemporary church life? That doesn't mean every church must become culturally “masculine,” nor does it establish that one worship tradition has solved the problem. Are churches forming disciples—or attracting customers? Are men's ministries creating genuine brotherhood—or merely filling calendars? Are struggling men able to confess what is really happening in their lives? Are churches giving young men meaningful responsibility? And why are some young Christians looking backward toward ancient Christian traditions while much of evangelical Christianity has spent decades trying to become more contemporary? This isn't simply a conversation about getting more men into seats. It's about what happens AFTER they walk through the door. Challenge. Discipline. Truth. Service. Brotherhood. Purpose.
