If God already knows every choice you will ever make, in what sense could those choices still be free? The conflict between divine foreknowledge and human freedom: why saying “knowledge does not cause choice” only answers part of the problem, how infallibility changes the question, and why philosophers have tried to reconcile freedom with an all-knowing God through very different accounts of time, necessity, and free will. The deeper issue is not simply whether God causes our decisions. It is whether a future can remain genuinely open if an infallible mind already knows exactly what will happen.
