Travel Info for Mcleodganj:- All the relevant details for travelling to Mcleodganj (Dharamshala) is easily available on every search engine and you can find that suiting for your place and mode of travel. But, remember one thing that until you are an extreme driver or expert one, avoid to use the Jogiwara Road (Khada Danda Marg) while travelling from Dharamshala to Mcleodganj. Use the road through Cantt which is around 16 Kms. in length and is in very good condition. Through experience you to hire local cabs/ bikes etc. for local travels and roaming. It frees you from parking issues and you can enjoy the place really well. We joined Sh. I personally recommend him. Dalai Lama’s Temple : Namgyal Monastery:- The monastery in Mcleodganj is “Namgyal Monastery” and it is also often referred to as “Dalai Lama's Temple”. It is the personal monastery of the 14th Dalai Lama, known as Tenzin Gyatso (his full spiritual name is Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso). After the Tibetan uprising of 1959, the Namgyal Monastery was relocated to Mcleodganj. His Holiness, Dalai Lama is a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, awarded in 1989. Spiritual Name of His Holiness Dalai Lama:- Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso Shiva Café:- Shiva Café is a very uniquely located café in Bhagsunag, amidst the Dhauladhar mountains. To reach the place you need to track for around 2 Kms up the hill from the BhagsuNag Temple. The journey takes around 1 Hr. and is a bit steep and narrow at a few places. But, you will find tea stalls & food points etc. enroute to Shiva Café. Once you reach there, the mesmerising views of the valley and waterfall and the very catchy designing/ decoration of the place makes you feel well connected to the atmosphere. Cuisines & Restaurants:- In Mcleodganj / BhagsuNag / Dharamkot you just find it difficult to choose the place to go to dine at. The cafes, restaurants, shops n bakeries are abundant and almost all of them provide good quality food at reasonable prices.
