Spearman City Council Special Meeting 12.23.25

🚨 Spearman City Council Meeting Audio: Police Chief Pay + Budget Approval 🚨 We’ve posted the latest council meeting audio, and one part of the discussion deserves close attention: police department payroll and oversight. Council members pressed the City Manager about the Police Chief’s pay, including questions about a salary increase, stipend/overtime-style payments, and how hours, comp time, sick time, and holiday time are being tracked and approved. The City Manager acknowledged he “dropped the ball” on monitoring it and said changes will be needed moving forward. Despite those concerns, the council approved the year-end budget amendment (Ordinance 975) so the city’s books match what was actually spent with multiple members emphasizing that approval of the amendment does not resolve the payroll questions. 🎧 Listen to the audio and decide for yourself. We’ll be watching for the follow-up agenda item and what changes (if any) the council makes next.
