10 Gentle Giant Dog Breeds That Make Thieves Skip a Senior's House

A thief may only need a few seconds to judge a house—and a calm, imposing dog can make him think twice. I draw on my years raising stock and training guardian dogs to explore 10 gentle giant breeds that may help a senior feel safer at home, without assuming every big dog is suited to every household. I cover the Saint Bernard, Bernese Mountain Dog, Newfoundland, Irish Wolfhound, Leonberger, Great Pyrenees, Black Russian Terrier, Anatolian Shepherd, English Mastiff, and Great Dane. I also discuss what to consider when choosing the right giant, from temperament and training to the dog’s needs and your living situation. 0:00 Why gentle giants deter thieves 1:28 Saint Bernard 2:47 Bernese Mountain Dog 4:00 Newfoundland 5:18 Irish Wolfhound 6:37 Leonberger 8:41 Great Pyrenees 9:21 Black Russian Terrier 10:47 Anatolian Shepherd 12:11 English Mastiff 13:28 Great Dane 15:15 Choosing the right giant #GentleGiants #DogBreeds #SeniorSafety #Dogs
