ANYWAY is a Sanguinius drinking shanty about a very simple rule: Sometimes the road is boring. Sometimes the road is dangerous. Sometimes you already know where it ends. You go anyway. Built around the repetitive work-song tradition of shanties such as Roll the Old Chariot Along, this is an original Warhammer 40K-inspired song about Sanguinius, Roboute Guilliman and Lion El'Jonson as brothers rather than distant legends. It starts with perhaps the greatest threat Sanguinius ever faced: Roboute had drawings. During Imperium Secundus, three demigods still had to deal with remarkably ordinary things — plans, cities, meetings, roads and the sort of discussions that somehow require another meeting the next morning. Roboute even kept places for his brothers at his table, because sometimes being a good brother simply means showing up when you'd rather be somewhere else. Then the Lion finds a trail. Of course he does. Sanguinius follows him through the hunt because when trouble calls loudly, you go with a friend. Later the relationship reverses. Sanguinius asks Roboute and the Lion to trust him when the road toward Terra leads through Davin. They disagree. They question him. They tell him so. And they come anyway. Eventually the three roads separate. Sanguinius knows what waits ahead. Terra burns. The Vengeful Spirit waits in the dark. Knowing the end does not shorten the road. So he raises his chin, stands up straight, and goes anyway. A song about duty, friendship, brothers who drive each other mad, keeping a chair for someone who's away, and doing the thing that needs doing even when you'd rather not.
