On August 4, 2026, Yamaha announced it will stop building side by sides in its own plant in Newnan, Georgia after the 2026 model year, touching about 300 positions worldwide. Yamaha has not left the side by side business and says it will keep supporting current and previous models. But that factory line went quiet, and it is not the only brand in trouble. This is the mechanic's read on four brands, counted from least urgent to most urgent, with the verified numbers first and then what each one means for your warranty, your parts, your resale and your dealer.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS VIDEO
Number four, Can-Am. BRP lost 136.8 million Canadian dollars in the quarter ending July 31, 2026, gross margin fell from 21.1 percent to 11.7 percent on steel, aluminum and copper tariffs plus a 74.8 million supplier restructuring, and full year profit guidance is roughly half of last year. The fair side, revenue up 18.5 percent, Can-Am at nearly one third of side by sides sold, Defender HD11 cab demand up more than 30 percent. What to watch as an owner, parts prices and delivery times, not the warranty.
Number three, Arctic Cat. Textron stopped production in 2025 with about 385 employees affected, sold the brand in April 2025, and the new owners restarted in May 2025 and named Northpoint as exclusive dealer floorplan lender in January 2026. The 2027 side by side lineup is six Prowlers starting at $10,799, a 2 year factory warranty offer runs on 2027 Alterras and Prowlers bought August 1 to October 31, 2026, and the Wildcat is not in the 2027 lineup. Which owners are fine and which should stock body and suspension parts.
Number two, Massimo. Revenue from UTVs, ATVs and e bikes fell 43.9 percent in the first nine months of 2025, then another 22.4 percent in the second quarter of 2026. Most products are made in China and about 72 percent come from two suppliers. Why that matters more for a T-Boss owner than the profit line.
Honorable mention, Kawasaki. The 2026 Teryx4 H2 and Teryx5 H2 stop ride and the CPSC recall covering about 3,585 units, a fixed problem rather than a brand in trouble.
Number one, Yamaha. In house production of the Wolverine and Viking ends after the 2026 model year, the outdoor land vehicle segment lost about 76 million dollars in the first half while the company posted a record half, and future side by sides come from unnamed partner companies. Why deep pockets do not protect an owner whose platform has no in house successor, and which hard parts to buy now.
Stop the count. A brand in trouble hurts you through parts and resale long before it ever touches your warranty.
What to do this week if you own one. Buy model specific hard parts now, keep every service record in one folder, check your warranty in writing and ask who honors it if your dealer drops the brand, run your VIN through the recall lookup, and do not panic sell.
YOUR RULE FOR TONIGHT
Write down the three parts you have broken most on your machine. Tomorrow, call your parts counter and ask if each one is on the shelf in this country. If any answer is no, order it now.
Tell me in the comments which brand you own and whether your dealer has said anything to you about it yet. Brand, year, and what the dealer told you, because that is the information nobody else is collecting.
If you want to know which side by sides are still built in America, I ranked them worst to best in the video right next to this one.
