After arriving in Kisoro, Uganda, I stepped off the bus and was immediately surrounded by hotel touts all competing for my attention. One particularly persistent local seemed determined to help me find a place to stay—even following me around town! Eventually, I checked into what appeared to be a decent hotel and thought my accommodation problems were solved. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go according to plan. What followed turned into one of the most stressful and unexpected nights of my travels in Uganda, proving once again that appearances can be deceiving when you're on the road.
