Even though I have a community studio I belong to, thing would take months to get back.
So, I researched kilns - thinking I might want to just have a small one at home so I could do my own firing.
What I found out was, it was more than just the inital cost of the kiln, posts & shelves but there’s also maintenance. You need to replace the kiln elements from time to time. Additionally, you need to fire a full kiln which would mean you need to make enough things to do that.
Sometimes, I’m impatient - especially when I’m experimenting and I’m on a need to know basis! It takes 10 hours to fire a kiln to bisque - was I going to leave a kiln unattended for 10 hours? Plus where would I put it? It needs to be in a well ventilated covered area.
My garage does have space, but then I’m encroaching on my husband’s hobby area.
So I was SO happy to find out about the Microwave Kiln! I found a Facebook group - but most of my posts go unanswered. Good thing, I like to try things out on my own. I watched all the videos.
I decided to put this video together for you. It’s my months worth of trials and tribulations.
Hope you like it. Please let me know if you have any questions.
