The company with the biggest number on the board didn't really gain anything — and the one nobody's talking about quietly won the week. 📈
We go past the net-change column on Guaranteed Rate, American Pacific Mortgage, Cross Country, New American Funding, and the Nexa/UMortgage combination to see who actually picked up referral-based production.
Key takeaways:
Guaranteed Rate takes the real #1 spot: 33 originators in for $541M, 19 out for $155M — a net gain of roughly $386M annualized, pulled from a lot of different places.
American Pacific Mortgage shows +47 LOs for $627M — but it's the Synergy One acquisition landing, not recruiting. Strip it out and they're flat to down.
Cross Country Mortgage nets +21 LOs for $350M, also from several different companies — the healthier kind of growth.
American Neighborhood Mortgage (AnnieMac) nets +17 for $130M, much of it a group out of Primary Residential.
New American Funding shows a net loss of 99 originators (~$770M) — but dig in and it's largely refi and company-lead business that stays with the company anyway.
Broker side: Nexa adds 42 as UMortgage joins forces, Barrett Financial nets +10, West Capital Lending adds 8 for $95M — and one departure skews Barrett's number.
The reminder underneath all of it: company-lead production isn't a loan officer's book of business. Referral-based production is — and that's the only production that actually moves when a license moves.
