Haryana’s government hospitals are facing a growing shortage of doctors as medical officers resign, retire early or move to private practice. The state had 3,602 doctors against 4,054 sanctioned Medical Officer posts in January 2026. But officials say the actual requirement is much higher, with hundreds of doctors away on postgraduate courses or deputation. In districts such as Sirsa, Jind, Kaithal, Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri.
