Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan jointly launched the Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0–Amarajeevi Jaldhara programme at Proddatur in Kadapa district. The programme is aimed at expanding rural tap water connections across Andhra Pradesh. The state government has set a target of providing new tap connections to around 27.36 lakh rural households through projects planned at an estimated cost of ₹30,136 crore. Speaking at the public meeting, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu highlighted drinking water, irrigation, industries and employment opportunities as key priorities for Rayalaseema. Chandrababu also spoke about the upcoming local body elections and said that coordination between the Centre, state and local bodies could accelerate development, referring to it as a “Triple Engine Government.” Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said development should not be limited by region or political party and stated that drinking water projects would be provided across areas, including Pulivendula. The Kadapa visit therefore combines a major water infrastructure programme with political developments ahead of the upcoming local body elections.
