✝️ “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven…A time to plant and a time to harvest.” Ecclesiastes 3 verses 1-2, NLT ✝️ “As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.” Genesis 8 verse 22 NLT VIDEO OVERVIEW: This was the second day of our Methow adventures while cabin camping at Pearrygin Lake State Park. The weather was perfect: no smoke, not too hot, no bugs ~ we sure do love the fall hiking season! Today's hike included a couple of surprises. Our plan was to hike Cutthroat Lake, but as we were driving from Winthrop to Mazama, we looked up and spotted Goat Peak towering over the valley and we said to each other, "maybe we should do Goat Peak Lookout instead of Cutthroat Lake." We both thought that was a great idea so we turned off on Goat Creek Road and headed up the long gravel road to the trailhead. This road traverses through open range public land so we were not surprised to pass through a herd of cows and calves on the road. They scurried off the road without incident. However, we WERE surprised to find a bovine bull on the trail not far from the parking lot. That's a first for us! Not sure if we handled the situation properly, but fortunately, the bull was in a good mood and showed no signs of agitation or aggression. We really enjoyed this hike though it does have a few very steep sections. The views are magnificent and for our second surprise of the day, we found the larch trees have already started turning yellow. Wow, this was not expected. It seems too early, but the higher we climbed, the more yellow the trees became. So if the snows (and wind storms) come early this year, we at least got in one larch hike.
